Draw a Stickman Epic

Draw a stickman, then guide him through a fantastic world of adventure! Using an assortment of pencils, draw elements, tools, and weapons to solve puzzles and overcome obstacles.

Draw a Stickman Epic could be compared to an adventure game, RPG, or puzzle game, but the unique drawing mechanic is unlike any game you've ever played before! From drawing a rain cloud for growing plants to drawing an ax for chopping down a gate, you control all aspects of your environment.

Explore diverse environments and encounter unusual creatures as you draw your way through 13 levels (plus a hidden bonus level)! With the non-linear gameplay, how you overcome one environment will determine which level you unlock next. Each level is filled with hidden secrets and achievements, offering hours of replay value.

Grab a pencil and dive into the world of Epic!

I loved the iPhone version of this game, so great to see it on Windows 8. It's lovely and exciting to see your own stick man come to life.

That is an impressive effort on the video! Nice work.

A lot of fun. It's a cross between an RPG, Platformer, and a Sandbox game.

Awesome ideia ;) Will be downloading it soon.

Loved the Non Linear Gameplay Idea.

A simple idea turned into an awesome game. The game just gives new dimensions to the stick man itself. And drawing of object and using them in game is just amazing concept

The game play seems very easy, however the idea can be extended to much much harder aspects.

Hmm, I have just read all comments here and indeed it looks like rule breaking, because you had published and promoted that game before competition has started. It's not fair because for example I started to write my app Crystlas 3 weeks ago so you had more time to promote. Your game is really very good but I feel it should be disqualified.
PolCPP Nov 8 '12 at 14:44
Imho, yes being promoted in kickstarter/etc earlier is bad, but what really makes unfair is a decent sized team (down there it says its a company of 51) against solo developers or teams of 2-3 people. Think about how many things can their team do at full time. It's like software developer says. Imagine that Rovio comes and drops angry birds Star Wars . It follows the promotion rule, but seriously, competing against angry birds? May the force be with you.
Software Developer Nov 11 '12 at 22:05
The game was not published before the contest period. But they were promoting it publicly on FB, blogs, twitter, forums, and this Microsoft Envangelist produced presentation/event along with a Microsoft Partner Xamarin. xamarin.com/generationx watch the Webinar for Evangelists and Testimonial: Hitcents videos. They list Microsoft partners and Stack Exchange adviser in the credits of their app & include logos/trademarks from companies other than the contest sponsor. The sponsor will eventually decide what their interpretation is, plenty others were kicked for contest period violations.
PolCPP Nov 11 '12 at 23:31
Yeah, i saw it but personally i think the contest lacked a team size rule. I mean according to the current rules this even facebook could drop a windows 8 app on the social category and participate.
jonathanpeppers Nov 11 '12 at 23:52
We have no problem being removed--we did not read the entire rules (they were way too long). I am not sure why our game is still on here. We originally posted our game here more to get the word out--we didn't really care if we won or not. Right now it looks my "Bing My Screen" or something is going to win handily anyway.
Software Developer Nov 14 '12 at 20:42
This phase of voting only accounts for 10% of the score in the semi-final phase, not sure how clear your vision of the winner is having not read the rules. :)

So basically a company of 51 cannot afford to buy a $500 tablet?
Sharp Peter Dec 9 '12 at 11:19
$10 each for that tablet and beer for two
Abby T. Miller  Oct 24 '12 at 13:40
This app is under review for eligibility, but it will stay open and eligible until we've figured out the right way to interpret the rules in this case.
BinaryGuy10 Oct 22 '12 at 17:01
Very cool app! It'll be great to get some quality apps starting up on Window 8. Looking forward to the launch :)

Breaking the rules.

The moderators should take care of it, don't worry about it.

You were promoting this on kickstarter and youtube before this contest period began. youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=TIG2kcwMTmI&NR=1 kickstarter.com/projects/1195405602/draw-a-stickman-epic
jonathanpeppers Oct 24 '12 at 12:06
It doesn't mention Windows 8, though does it?
Software Developer Oct 24 '12 at 19:55
No worries. I like your app its awesome. :) You have been doing a ton of promotion for a long time, not hard to find. forums.kleientertainment.com/archive/index.php/t-349.html Microsoft Evangelist PPT dated 9/13 xamarin.com/Xamarin-GenerationX-Slides.ppt I just don't think a company with a team of 50+ with a game you've been working for over a year is in the spirit of the contest. I'm an individual developer working on a concept I came up with specifically for this contest during the contest period, you might feel the same if Rovio walked in and submitted Angry Birds Star Wars.
Software Developer Oct 24 '12 at 20:08
"Xamarin made it possible for us to get Draw A Stickman developed for Windows 8. We saved thousands of engineering hours and months of development time" - Chris Mills, President, Hitcents you saved thousands of hours before the contest even started.
jonathanpeppers Nov 11 '12 at 23:57
We did not fully read the rules. We mainly submitted to get the word out about our game. In either case, we are fine being removed. It is a stretch to call us "Rovio" though. This is our first full-length game, and we have not made anywhere close to the money they have with their franchise.

Love both the artwork and the concept of the game. Looking forward to trying it out! :)
KronoS Oct 17 '12 at 14:45
Is this a port over from another platform? The screen shots seem to be well thought out.
user1747783 Oct 18 '12 at 13:52
Stickman Epic was developed in C# using Monogame. We'll be premiering this on both Windows 8 and iOS on Oct. 26th, with plans to release it on Android in the future.
