Mad Dash!

This app is a Grand Prize Winner in the Apptivate.MS developer contest!

Mad Dash! is a realistic horse race simulation that I've managed to port onto the Android, iOS, Blackberry and the Microsoft Windows 8 platform.

I'm excited to see how many people enjoy playing this game on a Windows Tablet. This game has a lot of users and is gaining popularity. It took around 8 months to produce the game and the 6 levels that you can unlock.

Mad Dash! is created from scratch using HTML5 and is powered by browser technology. I'm very fortunate that the game didn't require many tweaks to run on the Windows 8 platform.

Mad Dash! is one of the featured downloaded games on the Amazon Kindle Fire, and I hope that I can get featured in the Windows Store to become one of the top games.

I'm a little hesitant paying $2 for a UI that looks lacking. This sounds like an interesting idea, but I'm not sure if I'm really willing to pay the $2 for it. Why not use advertising as a source of rev? Or have a free version and a paid version?

To be honest I had a free version that was the first level of the game and made you wait if you ran out of money for a certain amount of time before you can play again, but I saw a large number of users not pay for the app and I stopped rolling out the free version.

If you're going for nostalgic, you have my vote. Will Microsoft allow "Nostalgic" looks, i.e. non Windows 8 Modern-UI?

Yes, the Windows Store does accept apps that are not skinned to look native to the Windows Store, which makes it easier to port your app over. However if I were to start from scratch building a Windows 8 app I would consider using one of the UI libraries setup by developers.

Can you explain why you don't like it rather than just not liking it.

Looks like windows 3.1.... The other app you have I think is really good

I tried to make it look more like an older 16 bit game.
