MetroGist

This app was a candidate in the Apptivate.MS semi-finals. See how it did among the other candidates in the Work group.

MetroGist is a Windows 8 application that lets you access your Github Gists from any Windows 8 PC. You can view, edit, and create Github Gists in the Windows 8 (Metro) style interface. Use from any Windows 8 PC, including Windows 8 RT.

Gists are small code repositories hosted by Github. They make it easy to share snippets of code with others. Each gist is a full Git repository. Every gist is automatically versionable and forkable.

MetroGist also has deep integration with the Windows 8. Share code from a Gist file using the Share charm. Send an email right from your Gist! Also, share code from another application, such as an email, into a new Gist using the Share charm. Also, check out the snapped view, where you can view or edit your Gists on the side while your IDE/editor is open beside it.

Get it in the Windows Store now, or check out the MetroGist website!

Nice idea :) I'll give this a go.

Why did you rename your app? Gists seemed like a shorter and better name?
Conrad Zimmerman Oct 25 '12 at 17:01
I contacted GitHub, and before they replied I released the app. They said Gists is technically allowed, but they thought it would reduce confusion if I renamed it to something like MetroGist. Here's what they said: "Of course, at the GitHub HQ, you'll often hear people saying to 'Always be classy'. Just calling it 'Gists' doesn't seem classy to me."

Fair enough! Good luck with the app. I will make sure that I will try it :)
