8 Zip is a file archiver that allows to combine a number of files together into one archive file, for easier transportation or storage.

Supports English, Italian, Russian and Chinese.

Developer perspective

8 Zip is a C#/XAML Windows Store application built on the base of MVVM pattern.

Currently, 8 Zip archiver core is built on the base of ZipArchive library, but we are working hard on the new WinRT component using 7 Zip archiver engine. So the upcoming version will support all popular archive formats including zip , rar, 7z, etc.

8 Zip supports x86, x64, ARM processors.

We use Search and Share in the Charm bar to increase usability working with achiver in metro style. Thus you can easily search files within an archive and share them with other apps.

We have made a great amount of work to make our application easy to use either with a touchscreen on a tablet or with a mouse on desktop. In addition, we have created four lovely themes to satisfy the taste of every single user.

I bumped you because I like seeing real tools do well in this contest. It does seem pretty unfortunate that you're trying to trade on someone else's name, though.

Thanks. 8 Zip = Windows8 + Zip
John Haugeland Nov 6 '12 at 22:52
Oh. I had misunderstood it to be a play on the name of 7-Zip.
